Tranquility Hill: Fishing

A typical fishing day at Tranquility Hill starts early in the morning.

Coffee is ready in the lodge at 6:30 a.m. but coffee makers are in each room if you are an early riser. All the fixings for lunch will be out on the lunch table as you are responsible for making your lunch in the morning. If you want extra sodas or beer for the day, you can secure them from the bar. Drinks will be put on your tab, payable at the end of your stay. Normal fishing hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., however, according to the best tides, they are flexible. Whether the best tide is at dawn or late in the day, you can be set up to fish at the perfect time for those big ocean bones. Because the tides enter and recede through the Bights, from east and west, there maybe simultaneous rising and falling tides throughout the day. This is a huge advantage Andros has over most other fishing grounds the world over.

You can fish incoming, or falling tides, pretty much throughout the day, just take your pick. You have the option to fish from a poled skiff, or by wading. Most of the fishing is done from the skiffs, although there are some excellent wading areas, but these are more tide dependent. If you want to wade, please be sure to let your guide know first thing in the morning. Our guides fish from a variety of quality boats, ranging from Dolphin Super Skiff to Maverick Mirages. Due to the vastness of this fishing area, there are always lee flats where you can escape from the wind. (If you have the time, it is highly recommended that you practice your casting, in the wind, before arriving at the lodge.).

Boats depart from the dock for the day at 8:00 a.m. returning at approximately 4:00 p.m. Appetizers are ready at the bar at 5:00 p.m. and dinner is usually served at 7 p.m.
