Fishing Day
Prescott has perfected
their program over the years and offers as solid a fly fishing program
as we have ever experienced in an intimate and casual setting, all
under an eye for details.
Their gracious staff is more than
accommodating and the guides possess the skills necessary to be
successful on the flats day in and day out.
Prescott and his highly qualified team
of guides are some of the most accomplished and professional fly
fishing guides and casting instructors we have ever fished with.
These guys are more than just boat pushers; they understand the
intricacies of bonefish behavior and are intimately familiar with
the marine environs they work in every day. Wind, tides, currents,
land structure, weather, moon phase, and anything that would affect
fishing are all considered before heading off for a day of pursuing
bonefish while fishing at Stafford Creek. In addition to developing
and maintaining a world-class fishing program, Prescott has been
proactive in protecting the bonefisheries of Andros Island and educating
locals on the complexity and fragileness of this wonderful resource.
A typical fishing
day at the lodge starts early in the morning. Coffee is ready
in the lodge at 6:00 a.m. Breakfast will be served at 7:00 a.m.
The lodge serves a hearty breakfast early each morning to get your
day started right. Lunch on the boat includes sandwiches, fresh
fruits, fresh lemonade, home made bread, and anything else you request,
from lobster salad to ice tea, beers, Gatorade, or fresh home baked
cookies all await you on the flats. The lodge's exceptional chef
will meet all your taste bud needs! From fresh conch fritters to
welcome you home from the days fishing, to sampling the finest seafood
dishes, caught fresh from local waters.
Boats depart from
the dock for the day between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. returning at approximately
4:00 p.m. These times may change due to tides, weather, fishing
conditions or any other factor determining fishing success. Prescott
claims they fish according to the fishing schedule not the meal
times. Appetizers are ready on the deck at 5:00 p.m. and dinner
is usually served at 6:30 p.m. In most cases, during or after dinner,
the lodge owner Smith will discuss guide assignments and the fishing
options for the following day.
We can't say enough
about Prescott and his staff and the wonderful bonefishing holiday
they deliver to each and every guest. This lodge has just
about every thing going for it; strong fishery, great location,
nice accommodations, great staff and most important, a commitment
to customer satisfaction. Testament to this fact is that space at
Stafford Creek Lodge is very tight, especially in the spring and
fall. Advance reservations are strongly suggested.
