Getting to Christmas Island

To get to Christmas Island you will need
to make travel arrangements to and from Honolulu, Hawaii
and also hotel arrangements in Honolulu. All trips to Christmas
Island start and end in Honolulu. You should plan to arrive in Honolulu
on Monday. Most guests prefer to stay at the Honolulu Airport Hotel
(808-836-0661). You will need to arrive in Honolulu on Monday or
before your scheduled stay. Your flight between Honolulu and Christmas
Island is on a Maritime Charter Flight G1 twin turbo prop. Departure
times may vary and will be noted on your e-ticket. Directions to
the airport (next to the Honolulu international airport) will arrive
with your pre-trip package after booking your trip. The flight is
4 1⁄2 hours. Snacks and water are provided on the plane.
At this time all fishing packages are Tuesday
to Tuesday. Christmas Island is actually across the International
Date Line and their corresponding days are Wednesdays to Wednesdays.
We can assist you with booking this flight with Christmas Island
Outfitters. Most travelers to CI will stay in Honolulu the night
after the trip in addition to the night before. This way you can
travel relaxed knowing you don’t have to make tight connections
when arriving Honolulu after departing Christmas Island.
The price of the r/t ticket at this time is $1070 and may be charged
to your credit card with no extra fee. This fee is subject to change.

The G1 turbo prop charter
flight to Christmas Island departs Honolulu Tuesday morning between
7:00-9:00 AM.

If you want snacks, liquor or wine, purchase
them in Honolulu before you depart for Christmas Island. You
are allowed 1 liter of liquor, wines or spirits. On arrival to Christmas
Island, you will clear Customs and a lodge representative will be
there to meet you and transfer you to the lodge. Once the guests
arrive at the lodge, unpack and settle-in, they will be briefed
about the weeks fishing program with the guides on hand.
DOCUMENTATION:
It is necessary to have a Passport that is valid for 6 months from
your date of arrival to Christmas Island. A visa is no longer required
of US citizens.
MONEY:
Take an ample amount of small bills (US $1.00, $5.00, $10 and $20)
for tipping and purchasing small items. Australian Dollars is the
currency at Christmas Island, but US Dollars are accepted at the
exchange rate of the day. You will need to bring $34.00 cash for
your fishing license and $20.00 cash for you exit fee. Be sure to
keep that $20.00 aside. Bring sufficient cash for your bar tab.
