In its jungle, river-side setting,
Belize River Lodge would not give anyone the impression of being
only a very short boat ride and an even shorter drive (just a few
miles) from the Belize International Airport.
There are no roads to the lodge so guests will hear howler monkeys and birds in the jungle trees rather than car horns or engine noise from traffic. It is a beautiful, lush setting right on the shore of the Belize Olde River. Belize River Lodge is unique among flats lodges to offer a mother-ship, live-aboard adventure in addition to the river lodge. If you prefer your rooms to be on a vessel close to the flats, the live-aboard is the way to go. Or, you can combine a lodge trip with a trip on the vessel to get the best of both worlds.
The lodge is only 3.5 miles upriver from its mouth and from there the offshore cayes and flats are minutes away by boat (10 – 45 minutes). Guests have two very distinct and different types of fishing available to them; the flats and channels in the clear waters of the Caribbean for tarpon, bonefish and permit or the in the river itself for tarpon and snook. The lodge is the oldest continuously running fishing lodge operation in the country of Belize.
