Lodging
The phrase that may better describe
Blue Horizon Lodge is fish camp.
The private island on which
it is built has cabins that are comfortable, clean, have private
bathrooms and showers with hot and cold water. There are
two floor fans per room for mid-day napping and/or sleeping comfort.
Each cabin has a covered front porch on which to sit in comfort
and enjoy the outside air and sounds. There are three of them with
two beds in each. They have plenty of room to store your gear. An
outside rod rack on the porch keeps your rods out of harms way.
While not fancy, it provides each angler a safe, comfortable place
to get to the flats quickly and get in more fishing time. They only
take a maximum of 6 anglers at a time. The emphasis here is always
on the fishing and time spent doing so. While non-anglers are welcome,
if you are not fishing, there is really nothing much to do especially
if the non-angler does not want to go out in the boat with the angling
partner.
The main lodge, a few steps
from the cabins, has a small bar where you can get a cool drink;
a dining area for breakfasts and dinners and a sitting area to visit
and talk fishing. Lunches are taken on the boat or back at
the lodge at your cabin if a mid-day break is called for.
Drinks are entered onto your
bar bill, which is payable at the end of your stay. Gratuities
can be paid at the same time. Cash in US or Belize Dollars are acceptable.
Unfortunately, checks and credit cards cannot be accepted.
