Getting there

From your home to Belize City is easy with American, Continental, US Airways and TACA.

Upon arrival at the Belize International Airport, a Blue Horizon Lodge representative, Marjorie Perez of Margie's Travel Services, or one of her associates, will be waiting for you to assist with your airline transportation down to Dangriga (Stann Creek).

A VALID PASSPORT IS MANDATORY FOR ENTRY INTO BELIZE

The Belize airport can be a rather confusing place for first time visitors, but be patient. You will clear immigrations first, and then claim your luggage. A porter will assist you with your luggage. Have your luggage tickets ready. After clearing customs, the representative from Marge’s Travel will greet you. Please note that no one can enter the customs area except arriving passengers and customs officials. Your Blue Horizon representative will be waiting right outside the door. The representative will have your Tropic Air tickets for your round trip flight to Dangriga (Stann Creek) waiting for you and assist with check in. Cost of the round trip air fare from Belize City to Dangriga is approximately $120 USD. This needs to be paid for in CASH U.S. Dollars to the representative.
Reconfirm Your International Flights: Please make sure the representative knows your departure flight information out of Belize City so that they can reconfirm your flight 72 hours before departure.

Upon arrival in Dangriga (Stann Creek) a Blue Horizon Lodge representative will meet you and transfer you to the location of the lodge boat in Hopkins (about 45 minutes drive), that is waiting to transport you to the Lodge. It is a 50 minute boat ride from there to the Caye. The ride can be a wet experience, depending on the seas and wind direction. You may want to have a light rain jacket handy to keep dry.

** Transfer Note: In some cases, usually due to weather, you may have to over night in Dangriga or Hopkins on your day of arrival and transfer to Blue Horizon Lodge early the next morning. This cost is included in your angling package and is at the discretion of Blue Horizon Lodge.

Upon arrival at the lodge, you will be shown to your accommodations and given a brief orientation of the facilities. Later, usually after dinner, Lincoln Westby will give a description of the fishing program and what to expect the next morning. . Turn-around days at Blue Horizon Lodge are open at this time for your convenience to arrive and depart on the day of your choice.

As always, when traveling to a foreign country, check with your personal doctor to determine if there is anything you need to know medically. Make sure you have all of the prescriptions you may need WITH you (do not put them in check-on luggage).
