| Pesca Maya Lodge Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico
T h i s c o m f o r t a b l e a n g l i n g r e s o r t is perfectly situated on the Yucatan Peninsula. Guests enjoy delicious food, excellent service and private, beachfront cottages cooled by the Caribbean trade winds. Pesca Maya has been hosting guests since 1996 and is one of the top fishing resorts on the flats of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. It is located 90 miles south of Cancun in an area that's world famous for bonefish, tarpon, permit (year 'round), and snook (seasonal). Other great saltwater species like jack crevalle, snappers, barracudas, and grouper can be found here also. The flats "grand slam" of bonefish, tarpon and permit is typical in this part of the world. Pesca Maya is perfectly placed adjacent to the Boca Paila Lagoon system, the village of Punta Allen, and the wonderful fishing of Ascension Bay. Pesca Maya covers more fishing areas than other lodges with better chances of wind protection which makes 99% of the year viable fishing days.
This is a great area for the non-fisherman to visit and relax. Pesca Maya offers ecotours to see wild dolphin, sea turtles, and manaties. Each of these tours includes bird watching and snorkeling. You're in the middle of Sian Ka'an Biosphere reserve, a 1.4 million-acre reserve, and the delights of this Yucatan rain forest are everywhere. Evidence of the great Mayan civilization is all around you. You'll drive by Mayan ruins on your way to Pesca Maya, and the beautiful cities of Tulum and Coba are nearby and well worth a visit. Add a couple days in Cancun to your trip for some shopping or night clubbing.
If you are looking for an all-round angling adventure with plenty of fish and the comforts of home, look no farther. You are the boss. Start and end your stay any day you wish. Pesca Maya is beautiful, well equipped with amenities and a destination you will remember for many, many years.
