| New Zealand's south island
Fraser’s Cedar Lodge
This South Island fly fishing Mecca is the no. 1 heli-fishing
experience in New Zealand and possibly on the planet.
Cedar Lodge is unique, even
in New Zealand, and is one of only a few lodges in the country catering
exclusively to fly rodders. No others have their own choppers,
and none has the reputation for hospitality and service the Frasers
have built over 30 years. Lefty Kreh, Jack Nicklaus, Doug Swisher,
Dave Whitlock, and the late Mel Krieger and Ernie Schweibert have
all been regulars.
Using an R-44 Robinson Raven helicopter, owner Dick Fraser and his
staff of pilots and Kiwi guides easily access more than a dozen
wilderness rivers. Many of the spots on the Cedar Lodge itinerary
are inside Aspiring National Park, where Fraser enjoys the single
helicopter access license.
The most distant river or stream is less
than half an hour by air from their lodge. Each flight is
a breathtaking experience and the often phenomenal fishing sometimes
becomes only an accent on the day.
The Cedar Lodge package delivers a lot of
bang for the buck and is, arguably, the best value in flyfishing
travel. Cedar is a rare combination of great fishing, excellent
guides, helicopter access to the bush, superb food, a comfortable
lodge, and the famous Fraser brand of hospitality.
Time your angling holiday to Cedar for the months of November through
late March.
We’re now accepting tentative reservations for the 2010 season
and beyond.

Poronui Ranch
World Class Fly Fishing
Imagine 16,000 acres of wilderness ranch
for your exclusive use, complete with world class accommodations
and cuisine, miles of pristine and uninterrupted angling on the
property’s streams, a squadron of helicopters to whisk you
away to limitless other trophy trout opportunities, and sole access
to native Maori waters (many of which are quite small and full of
big browns and rainbows).
Poronui is simply amazing and features the
most varied fishing program on the North Island. The ranch
is a delight for non-fishing companions who are often kept busy
horseback riding in the ranch outback. Poronui has a full gym, billiard
room, massage and sauna facility, sporting clays, and an optional
safari-type overnight camp on the famous Mohaka River.
$4,500 to $5,100 per week December to March
