Mike was among the first anglers to visit Russia after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991 - traveling first to the Kola Peninsula, and then to Kamchatka in 1994. Slava came to Kamchatka from a varied carrier that has included gaining an advanced degree in ornithology, a white water rafting guide on the Kola Peninsula, and special service assignments in the Soviet and Russian military.
Sasha Polunin

Sasha is currently pursuing his MBA, split between Russian and American universities. He speaks English, Russian and Japanese indifferently. He has worked as a translator and fishing guide across Kamchatka since 2000.

Dima represents the best of the new generation of eager and open Russians. Forever in good spirits and with a sense of humor that translates well through his self taught English, Dima is a joy to spend the week with. And, there is no one on Earth who knows the Zhupanova River better than him.
Captain Peter Soverel (US Navy, retired)
President, Wild Salmon Rivers Expeditions. Active on the Kamchatka frontier since 1994, Pete is commited to conservation of the peninsula's pristine salmon and trout habitat, and to sustainable economic development. As one of Kamchatka's most traveled explorers, Pete has an expert knowledge of the peninsula's fishing opportunities. He coordinates our Zhupanova River fishing programs.

Vladimir Plotnikov
Kamchatka Guide, 1994 - present
During the Soviet period, Vladimir was the regional wildlife biologist and area manager for hunting and fishing in the northwest region of the peninsula. He was among the first Russians to guide flyfishers as part of the Kamchatka Steelhead Project. As a naturalist and storyteller, Vladimir is the ultimate representative of Kamchatka. If you're lucky, he'll sing for you.
