McLean Ts'yl-os Park Lodge
Chilko Lake British Columbia, Canada
The Mc Lean family's Ts'yl-os Park Lodge (pronounced
Silos) is a trout fishermen's paradise, located about 200 air miles
over the coastal mountains from Vancouver, British Columbia.
Ts'yl-os Park Lodge is what rainbow trout dreams
are made of; whether the angler prefers the crystal clear waters
of Chilko River or the dozens of creek heads of Chilko Lake, it's
in Trophy Rainbow Country!
Chilko Lake is glacier fed
fifty miles long and the largest natural, high-elevation freshwater
lake in North America. This crystal-clear lake is surrounded
by rugged volcanic mountains with jagged peaks, alpine meadows,
and vast ice fields in the upper elevations. Glacial streams running
pure and cold feed the lake and it’s main out-flowing river,
the Chilko River.
With an extended dry fly season of July and August and
great wet fly and egg pattern fishing in June and September, the
Chilko River is loaded with big trout. When fishing Chilko Lake
guests will be focusing on Dolly Varden (Bull Trout) as well as
the resident Rainbows.
Fishing the Chilko River by
Jet Boat, Drift Boat, float tubes and wading you will always
find the perfect shelf or eddy to drop your fly on. Most fishermen
spend at least one day on the 52-mile long Chilko Lake, fishing
with streamers at the creek mouths for Dolly Varden and Rainbows.
They also fish nearby Tsuniah Lake or offer a float plane service
to more remote mountain waters, but with the fishing so incredible
at the lodge, the offer is rarely accepted.
Ts'yl-os Park Lodge is also
an excellent non-angling destination. With a large number
of great horses, they offer an excellent riding package. There are
canoes, hiking trails and lake-trips to take advantage of as well.
Ts'yl-os Park Lodge is a rare
combination of Canadian atmosphere deep in the heart of an unspoiled
wilderness. It is Canada the way most imagine it should be
with beautiful forests, crystal clear fish-infested streams and
friendly folks. It offers excellent fishing, breathtaking surroundings,
home-cooked meals and, at the end of the day you may gaze at the
stars while soaking those tired muscles in a hot tub.
