| Eastslope Adventures
Eastslope Adventures is located on
the east side of the Rocky Mountains in Southern Alberta, Canada
just north of the Montana border.
This relatively remote destination,
located about 3 hours driving time south of Calgary, is one of the
most exciting wild trout dry fly fishing destinations we have offered
in quite some time. We are very excited about offering Cam
Jensen’s operation to our loyal trout fly fishing fanatics.
Cam and his team of talented
guides have a host of public and private access fisheries to share
with you. Some of these fisheries are walk-and-wade excursions,
while others incorporate rafts with rowing frames for day floats.
Regardless, the variety of water within easy striking distance of
your lodging is superb. We feel the biggest draw to this program
is the opportunity to float and fish relatively small streams, often
in complete privacy. As well, the dry fly season is quite long here,
stretching from mid June through September, and offers a mixed bag
of predictable mayfly and caddis hatches, as well as summertime
terrestrials. Even when there are no visible hatches, one can often
sight fish to big trout lying in shallow water, inducing them to
the surface with well-placed casts. Tough weather conditions? No
problem. Anglers can put a nymph dropper under their dry fly, and
hammer trout. And the fish are impressive specimens, deep-bodied
rainbows, browns and cutthroat averaging 15-20 inches; fish in the
20-23-inch range are surprisingly abundant, and there is always
the chance for a true monster in excess of the two-foot mark.
Depending on current water
conditions and which streams are fishing the best, you will
be accommodated in one of three different, modest and lovely country-inns
while fishing with Eastslope Adventures; Cam Jensen will make the
decision on the inn you will base out of, accordingly, and facilitate
the accommodation reservations at his end.
Every day, each pair of fishermen
will have the opportunity to experience a different fishery, or
return to their favorite spot. There are literally dozens
of fisheries to experience with Eastslope Adventures, and Cam and
his guides have their finger on the pulse of the best opportunities,
taking into account hatches, weather, angler ability and fishing
taste. In most cases you will formulate a plan in the evening after
dinner for the next morning, but weather and other conditions could
affect that plan. Stay flexible, and Cam will show you some remarkable
fishing! Give us a shout if you are interested
in fishing some the best trout fishing we have experienced –
east of the Rockies (800) 669-3474.
