Belize River, Belize Central America
B e l i z e R i v e r L o d g e i s a tried and proven world-class fishing operation in continuous operation since
1960. It's a unique fishing operation in that it offers anglers a variety of different angling opportunities, the lodge program, and live-on-aboard vessel
program. One thing is for sure, no matter what angling option you choose, the owners of BRL, Mike Heusner and Marguerite Miles, are wonderful people, hard
working, helpful and run a top-notch operation. Their seasoned staff is among the best we have ever experienced and their work ethic is second to none in
all the Caribbean. You can literally fish from sun-up to sundown, no questions asked.
Belize River Lodge is appropriately named as sits right on the banks of the Belize River, a lazy and meandering tropical waterway, minutes from the
International Airport. The lodge can accommodate 16 guests at one time, and is surrounded by lush tropical gardens, well-manicured lawns, with air orchids
hanging from the ancient Mahogany trees intersperse among the buildings. The setting at the lodge is truly beautiful, like something out of a Tarzan Movie.
It's not uncommon to hear clans of howler monkeys deep in the jungle calling to one another.
Belize River Lodge is a fly fishers dream. Because of its unique location, the lodge can fish numerous inland jungle rivers, creeks, and lagoons for snook
and tarpon as well as venturing outside to the saltwater. Within the confines of the second largest barrier reef in the world, are vast living flats,
harboring healthy populations of tarpon, bonefish, and permit. If you want a variety of fishing opportunities, don't look any further than BRL, it offers
the best of both worlds. Anglers are fished two to a 23' fiberglass skiff, and are accompanied by hard working seasoned guides. One of the best things I
can mention about BRL is the length of their fishing days. This lodge will fish you 'till you drop. How about up at 5:30 a.m., a quick breakfast of coffee,
fresh squeezed juice, and fruit, departing the lodge by 6:30 a.m., fishing all day with lunch on the fly, returning to the lodge as the sun sets 6:30 p.m.
or later. Now that's a full day of fishing...
