Encompassing the incomparable Chimehuin River:
Estancia Tipiliuke is part of the famous
Estancia Cerro de los Pinos and located only a stone's throw
from the famous Chimehuin River... the river that Mel Krieger once
called "the finest on earth!" Only 12 anglers can be accommodated
at the beautiful old ranch house, and the conditions on the nearby
Chimehuin are ideal for every type of flyfisherman. The ranch itself
encompasses over 55,000 acres, and borders the Chimehuin for 13
miles.

Part of the attraction to the Estancia is
the tremendous variety of water on the ranch, and the very
private fishing experience that is guaranteed. The river offers
deep pools, long shallow runs, and narrow braids more like a spring
creek than a freestone stream. It's a river that is loaded with
fish and has hatches of mayflies, caddis and stoneflies sometimes
so thick that it makes it difficult to keep from inhaling one of
the critters.
The fish in the Chimehuin range from stupid to ultra-selective,
and from pan-sized to trophy status. Beats are rotated, and the
length of the river is impossible to cover in a single visit. Full
day float trips on the nerby Colloon Cura and Alumine Rivers are
highlights of many of the angling trips to Tipiliuke. Lots of time
is spent wading and fishing the productive water on the float.

The Chimehuin is nearest to the community
of San Martin de los Andes. Flights are scheduled from Buenos
Aires most days of the week to the tiny (8,400 people) alpine village,
and it is easy to transfer to Esquel by either auto or plane. There
are also connecting flights to Rio Grande for those anglers interested
in combining Tierra del Fuego angling with what many feel is the
best of Patagonia fly fishing. Many fishermen combine angling at
several of the Estancias, usually in three-day increments. Guides,
provided by the local outfitter, travel with the guests from lodge
to lodge. Meals at Tipiliuke are gourmet and complimented by fine
Argentinean wines. Lunches may be taken at the lodge or served in
the field.
Guides on the Estancia are mandatory, and included
