The Estancia San Huberto encompasses tens of
thousands of acres, and over thirty five miles of catch and release
rainbow and brown trout fishing on the Malleo (pronounced Ma-Jay-O)
River.

The Malleo is about the size of the more
wadable portions of the Madison, a bit smaller than the Deschutes,
and a bit wider than the Upper Sacramento. San Huberto was once
a hunting lodge and a century of mounted red stag trophies grace
the wall. San Huberto is owned and managed by Carlos Olsen and his
charming wife Carmen, wonderful and gracious hosts. The Olsen's
ranch offers what most considered the best dry fly-fishing in the
region.

Fishing on the ranch is limited to a maximum
of 12 guests that can be accommodated at the lodge. An indoor
barbecue highlights each week's fishing, and each day's fishing
is accented by fabulous meals and can be recounted at one of the
most comfortable cocktail hours on the continent. San Huberto Lodge
is a grand, old-world lodge, full of traditions, Argentine culture
and fond memories.
During the months of November-December
fishing takes place on a tributary of the Malleo, Huaca Mamuil or
Malleo itself. From January until April the Malleo River offers
heavy insect hatches and very good quantities of fish. The average
weight of a trout on the Malleo is 2 to 6 lb., browns and rainbows.
