Estancia Carlota Lodge

The Estancia Carlota and the Rio Gallegos
Mauricio Braun, one of the original pioneers of the Patagonian wilderness, founded the Carlota Farm in 1899. He came to the area from Punta Arenas, originally, and at one point owned three separate, major ranches in Argentina. The operation stayed in the Braun family until 1997, at which point Ms. Norma Abdala purchased the property. Recently, brothers Alex and Pablo de Tomaso have taken over managing the fishing program at this fabulous property, arguably the finest on the entire river.

The Beautiful Carlota Lodge:
The traditional Estancia Carlota, an active sheep ranch, is surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds and gardens, and dedicated to fly fishermen. It accommodates a maximum of 6 anglers in a standard of luxury that is in direct contrast to the remote Patagonian landscape. The lodge itself is classic Argentine; your host, Alejandro de Tomaso, along with his brother Pablo have recently completed a substantial renovation of the original lodge and out buildings, incorporating all the modern conveniences without compromising the local architecture, flavor and ambiance. Located in the shadow of imposing volcanic bluffs, Estancia Carlota is one of the most impressive and scenic ranches on the Rio Gallegos.
