Getting There
The day before going into Sandy
River Lodge anglers should plan on arriving in Anchorage on
the day before going into the lodge, and overnighting at the hotel
of their choice. We like the Millennium (800)-544-0553 or the West
Coast International Inn (800)-544-0986 .
The Sandy River Lodge Package
includes the round trip charter flight from Anchorage to the Lodge.
Lodge owner Mel Gillis has arranged for a private charter
to fly his guests directly from Anchorage to the lodge, as the previously
used commercial PenAir flight is no longer in existence. The charter
is a Twin Otter on wheels, flying out of Great Circle Flight Services,
6121 South Airpark Place (this is at the Anchorage Airport). You
need to be here by 8:00am on your day of arrival to the lodge, as
it will leave at 8:30am (assuming you will be taking a cab or airport
shuttle from a hotel, tell the driver the address). The Charter
Service is open 24 hrs and can easily provide more info on how to
get there if necessary. The tail number is 54LM and it is also known
as the Sandy River Lodge Twin Otter. Their phone # is 907-245-1273.
The cost of the roundtrip charter is built into the lodge rate
