Fishing Day
These are full angling days.
With the river only a stone's
throw away, and several jet boats and talented guides at
your disposal, the expedition will be limited only by its exhaustion
threshold relative to the amount of fishing available.
There are more than five miles
of river near the lodge that anglers who have fished the Sandy consider
to be absolutely prime steelhead holding water. The classic
pools are long and relatively shallow, and the wading on the large
pebble bottom is easy by any standard. A longer boat ride down river
to the best pools adjacent to the ocean are normally standard procedure
for those hunting big king salmon…in any case, the boats are
used only for transportation, with anglers wading and fishing through
the best fly water. Days begin fairly early with a hearty breakfast,
and guests casting over the first pools before the sun gets up high;
clients normally take lunches on the water to maximize fishing time;
and typically days end in the late afternoon with exhausted anglers.
