Getting to Rainbow King Lodge

To reach Rainbow King Lodge, you’ll need to book your airfare to Anchorage, Alaska, and on through to the village of Illiamna.

Iliamna Air Taxi (907-571-1248, or 907-571-1445) flies several scheduled direct flights per day between Anchorage and Iliamna. Make reservations on one of the two evening flights, departing Anchorage at about 4:00pm or 5:30pm (the exact schedules may differ slightly from year to year). For the return flight, you should book a late morning departure from Iliamna back to Anchorage. The flight is about 1 hour.

Depending on where you are coming from, you may be able to arrive into Anchorage on Monday and catch the flight straight through to Iliamna on that same day. However, it may be necessary to arrive into Anchorage on Sunday, overnight at one of the many fine hotels, and continue on to Iliamna the next day.

Once you get off the plane in Iliamna, staff from Rainbow King Lodge will be waiting at the airport to meet you. They can be identified by their “Rainbow King Lodge” shirts and caps. They’ll load your luggage into the lodge vans and transfer you the short 3 miles to the Lodge. Monday is a non-fishing day and is your time to move in, meet the staff, organize your gear, and to get your fishing license squared away.

In the morning on your last day, the Lodge will transport you back to the airport in Iliamna for departure to Anchorage. It is advised to book your flight in the morning or early afternoon to allow plenty of time to connect in Anchorage for your flight home.
