Goodnews River Lodge
Togiak National Wildlife Refuge • Western Alaska

G o o d n e w s   R i v e r   L o d g e  is located on the western slope of Alaska, between the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge and the coast of the Bering Sea. Over 400 miles from the nearest paved road, this 175 mile long wild river is among the finest in all Alaska and is one the state's two most remote, diverse, and prolific fisheries. The Goodnews offers outstanding Rainbow Trout fishing as well as abundant numbers of all five of the species of Pacific Salmon (depending on what time of the season that you choose). Additionally, Arctic Char, Dolly Varden, and Grayling are available every day of the season. The Goodnews is a fisherman's dream come true, and is generally regarded as Alaska's most remote trout, salmon, and wildlife sanctuary.

One of the real advantages of the camp is that it is located right on

the river itself. The main tent/lodge complex is just above tidewater on the main branch of the river, offering immediate access to prime fishing areas in all 3 branches. Fast jet boats can get you to any of the fishing spots in just minutes. Or, in just an hour or two, the lodge can jet you upriver to one of the many ideal starting points for GRL float trips that range from a single day to a full week. Diversity and flexibility are just a few of the keys to the fishing program at GRL. Your fishing is limited only by the amount of energy that you can muster.

Mobility is one of the other keys to Goodnews River Lodge's success as an Alaska wilderness camp. With two 23-foot inboard jet Duckworths, five skiffs fitted with outboard jet units, and a drift boat, the camp is able to let you fish anywhere in the entire river system in a given day. It's your choice each morning: Salmon in tidewater, Char and Dolly Vardens in the tributaries, stalking Rainbows with spun-hair mouse (lemming) patterns, or slinging leeches, muddlers, and roe imitations at the 'Bows, Char and trophy-sized Grayling. And if that is not enough, good fishing is literally a stones throw away from your cabin door.

Although the emphasis is where it should be, on the fishing, Goodnews River Lodge believes in comfort, relaxation, with plenty of great Alaskan hospitality and lots of smiles! This is Alaskan fishing the way that it should be.... a remote river, and a comfortable camp. Top quality guides, and first-rate equipment are combined by a veteran operator to make the Goodnews River live up to its name for each and every one of its guests.

Goodnews River Lodge's professional chef is dedicated to providing outstanding hearty fare with delicious appetizers, piping hot homemade breads, the freshest fruits and vegetables, choice entrees, and mouth-watering desserts. Hot coffee is always available, along with a plate of homemade cookies.

In a nutshell, this is a spectacular camp with many of the amenities of the most luxurious fixed lodges, yet located in a stream side environment only inches from some of the finest fishing in Alaska. Goodnews River Lodge is one of the most popular wilderness camps in Alaska; advance reservations are a must.
