Mid May through September |
Accessible only by floatplane,
the flight from Sitka to the lodge is worth the price of admission,
by itself. You'll fly by rugged, snow-capped mountain ranges,
breathtaking hanging glaciers and lush virgin forests. Keep your
eyes open, for along the way you'll have a chance to see the area's
numerous mountain goats, clinging precariously to the sheer rock
walls!
The lodge itself is right
on remote Warm Springs Bay, on the east side of Baranof Island.
The natural hot springs the bay is named after are actually
at the lodge, and are a wonderful way to relax after a hard day
afield, as is the hot tub located at the foot of a crystalline mountain
freshet. Here you will also find the superior accommodations of
the lodges spacious guest cabins and lodge.
The fishing at Baranof
Lodge is tremendously varied, and includes fishing for the
regions parade of salmon species both in local rivers and out of
boats in the saltwater, searun dollies in the streams, rising cutthroats
in local lakes and a collection of bottomfish and halibut out in
the bay itself. In addition, Baranof offers a wonderfully varied
program for non-anglers, including whale-watching, sea kayaking,
beachcombing, crabbing and shrimping, and excellent hiking. The
lodge guides are talented, licensed, certified and caring people
who want your stay to be memorable. They take great pride in making
your vacation the best it can possibly be.
Whatever you choose to
do, you won't be disappointed by the food at Baranof Lodge. Their
meals are prepared for the heartiest of appetites, and are served
family style, with a selection of California wines at every dinner.
Served in the dining room overlooking scenic Warm Springs Bay, meals
emphasize local seafood from the immediate area - halibut, salmon,
succulent mounds of crab, shrimp, and clams, together with fresh
herbs and vegetables from their own garden. You won't be losing
any weight here, we promise!
Lodging: Spacious
guest cabins, elegantly furnished with pine-panelled rooms. Hot
showers, baseboard heaters, toilet/shower facilities and 24-hour
a day electricity are all standard in the cabins. Enjoy panoramic
views of Warm Springs Bay and surrounding mountain ranges from cabin
