Mike Trotter's
fabulous float trips in southwestern Alaska are
accessible only by floatplane - the headwaters
of the river you'll be floating will be the jumping
off spot for a week of fishing through a hundred miles
of remote Alaskan outback. Each day the scenery changes
as you travel down these magnificent rivers, offering
unlimited photo opportunities. You will camp in peaceful
solitude with superior accommodations each night on
specially selected gravel bars, surrounded by phenomenal
fishing. Mike has spared no expense in making this the
most luxurious float trip possible. From his expedition
quality rafts to his impressive camps and meals, and
experienced guides, a better float experience cannot
be found, at any price.
Mike
has chosen the finest rivers in the Bristol Bay watershed
on which to operate his floats.
They are smack in the middle of the most prolific salmon
runs in Alaska, allowing the angler seasonal opportunities
at kings, chums, sockeyes, pinks, and of course, silver
salmon. With these fertile salmon populations also come
tremendous numbers of indigenous species; you can test
your skills daily on beautiful "leopard rainbows", arctic
char, dolly varden and grayling. The rivers are the
perfect size - small enough to wade effectively and
do some exciting sight fishing, but large enough to
comfortably float down.
The
camp crew will go ahead of you each day and set up camp
- as with every facet of this operation, only the finest
tents, sleeping cots and mattresses are used. You will
roll into your fully assembled "sandbar chalet" after
a full day's fishing, greeted by the inviting aroma
of the cook's wonderful Dutch oven magic. After a hearty
meal that includes a selection of fine California wines
and some mouth-watering desserts, you'll be free to
relax around the camp, or put the waders back on and
catch a bunch more fish. As a wonderful bonus, the remote
nature of these expeditions often includes encounters
with brown bears, moose, wolf, caribou and eagles, as
well as the possibility of a late night display of the
Northern Lights. As Mike like's to say, "This is as
comfortable as you can get on a sandbar!"
